Even with the mathematical and economical aspect being confusing as hell, The Big Short still delivered a big success in cinematic artistry. First is Steve Carell in a career best performance, with Ryan Gosling, Christian Bale and an underutilized Brad Pitt adding good supports. Complicated as the numbers may be, the storytelling tried it's hardest to explain the going-ons of the banking world, and this attention to detail gives The Big Short a personal feel. The cameos were suprising but not in bad taste, and the pacing is relaxed enough to give audiences breathing room to contemplate just how damaging the financial crisis was. Fvck capitalism.
