Robert Eggers excels in creating maddening movies that slowly creeps under your skin, and The Lighthouse is another shining example. Shot in black and white perfection, this psychological thriller created a world so bleak and rustic, yet too engaging and mesmerizing to let go off easily. The stunning performances of Robert Pattinson's descent to crazytown and Willem Dafoe pushes viewers further into mental mode, as their chemistry works wonders in keeping things taut and puzzling. At times, the too artsy approach loses sense (kinda bored me after an hour), but the characters are just too perfect for a character study to give up on. The Lighthouse deserves a second viewing - not because it was so surreal - but because there's too many aspects to unpack and unravel.
