Put Leigh Whannell’s commentary on in the background while writing my own low-budget, tight, visceral sci-fi thriller to be filmed in Melbourne, because the very existence of this movie has helped my pitching process significantly (“It’s like Upgrade, but cheaper!”). Whannell hits you with a steady stream of “anecdotes and factoids” from the first few seconds and doesn’t let up, delivering them all with dizzying energy and his larrikin Aussie spirit. This is the first time I’ve listened to an audio commentary twice, so well done Leigh. If he maintains even half of the humour and insight found in this one then his Invisible Man track is gonna be hoot.
