Anne-Laure Meury's Lucie is one of my favorite female characters from the Rohmer Universe so far, probably the reason that made this movie quite as enjoyable.
There are countless stories about first love and many of them with tragic endings, just like Sommarlek. Despite that, the way Bergman portraited youth love with such care and sensibility was something I wasn't expecting in the first few minutes. I knew it was going to be devastating, but as soon as Marie and Henrik first shared the screen, my heart warmed in such a way that never happened with another Bergman movie. But nothing in life lasts forever.
