Ivan Mironov’s review published on Letterboxd:
VSCO Aesthetic, The M🌺vie
- Florence Pugh
- the Ättestupa scene, which hammers home the fact that silence is sometimes a filmmaker's best tool
- the movie makes swedish cults look cool as hell
- the dynamics of the Dani/Christian relationship, upon which the movie hinges, have to be spelled out for the audience within the first ten minutes, after which they remain static with zero development until the very end
- did you expect the sister part to be important or relevant to the overall plot? Well, guess again. Two and a half flashback sequences later, it ended up not really being that necessary, aside from the fact that Dani is now more receptive to having a new "family". What a waste of a perfectly good exposition sequence.
