My GOD...this movie pissed me off completely!! And not because it was a bad movie, because it wasn't, as you can tell from my 4.5 star rating. It's because ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT is such a gut-wrenching, harrowing and heartbreaking movie which depicts the senselessness of war and the powerlessness of soldiers in an extremely brutal way! And ultimately seeing what war can do to young people...I was pissed...and sad.
ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT perfectly depicts the famous statement of Herbert Hoover: "War. Older men declare war. But it is youth that must fight and die."
Anyway...ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT is fantastic anti-war movie that will make you feel sick after watching it because it perfectly encompasses the horrors of war.
From technical and visual stand of point, this movie looks great...it has a fantastic cinematography, fantastic production values, and such a harrowing and terrifying soundtrack. But because it is so accurate, bleak, depressing and rough to watch...and because it pissed me off, I really don't want to watch it again anytime soon...
