Lady Bird ★★★★½

As a person who went to a Catholic High School called Immaculate Heart and wanted to go to school out of state, I related to this film on a deep level. Outside of that, like having relationships or our school putting on halfway decent plays/musicals, I did not relate to. But god damn does this film make me feel like I do.

Who the fuck knew that Greta Gerwig was more than a great actress? This is one of the best films I've seen this year. Gerwig has written a masterwork of a screenplay that better damn well win Best Original Screenplay (unless I am wowed by Three Billboards more, whenever I see that). I was cackling with laughter as well as getting close to tears. It moved me in every way.

Although, that also owes a huge thanks to the performances. Saorise Ronan continues to be perfect, but the best performance here is from Laurie Metcalf, who earns the Oscar she is likely to get next March (though the Supporting Actress category has no clear favorite as of yet, so who knows).

If this film is near you, see it. It is one of the best films coming out this year. You will love it.
