Bradley Cooper is a director. Absolutely impeccable craftsmanship here. A decades spanning story told with so much elegance, rhythm, beauty and love. Just a gorgeous movie from start to finish, easy to get swept up into as the years pass by and these relationships hit their emotional crescendo. Carry Mulligan is fantastic, only getting stronger as the film goes on. Incredible make-up and prosthetics on Bradley Cooper, making the transitions into old age seamless. Minor elements of the narrative feel a bit undercooked, but never in a way that takes you out of the central love story. You’re with them on this journey from start to finish, going with the times as their lives and their love flashes before your eyes, and it’s exquisite. Will forever be thinking about those early black and white shots in the theatre.
