    Home Sweet Home Alone

A rehash of what the original did but with zero the charm.

    2021 Ranked

    That’s a lovely name.

I’m not really a big fan of Edgar Wrights directing style and unfortunately this film didn’t win me over but I definitely did enjoy it more then I expected. Anya Taylor Joy as I expected stole the show for me with her performance at being both seductive, sweet and bitchy. I beginning was a bit slow to get going for me I wasn’t very invested in the mystery but it definitely picks up better…

  • Eve's Bayou

    Eve's Bayou

All I can really say is this is ok but I wasn’t very invested in it as a whole it felt like a weekday afternoon TV movie of the week very soapy in places. I only really liked the goofy voodoo and psychic elements of the story that were intriguing and fun but there wasn’t enough of it and it felt out of place with the rest of the plot.

    2021 Films Ranked

It took me a while to process this film and understand how I felt about it. It had great style and visuals that reminded me of what I enjoyed about the directors other feature Raw and this film definitely sets out to shock you with French extremism it’s very gory and brutal. I’m more mixed on the story itself there was a lot of times I didn’t understand the characters motivation, why she was killing people in…

  • Lake Mungo

    Lake Mungo

I really was intrigued by the documentary style of the film structure it felt very real and well acted, it had really good tension throughout the mystery of the story and it had some interesting ideas. The story itself started out strong but for me kind of fizzled out throughout the middle to the end. I liked the creepy supernatural elements but it lacked enough horror to work for what is was trying to set up from the beginning, It was entertaining tho.

  • Disturbia

Rear Window but tailored for my taste of teen melodrama and true crime thrillers. This is a fun movie with a nice twisted thrilling finale that again shows the darker side of suburbia life.

  • Cut

It’s always interesting to see an Australian slasher and this is a fun trashy one that has an intriguing set up that serves as a parody of the genre and a community of violence in cinema and it’s impact on society.

There’s a big battle with in the story  about whether trashy slashers serve as a cathartic outlet to its audience or is it pointless trash as the movie itself tries to stop anyone from making it and provides some brutal angry deaths towards its victims.

  • Flubber

I really like the aesthetic look of 90s films like this  and I miss that. Flubber is quirky fun at times but also not the most intriguing plot either it’s mostly just harmless fun to keep kids entertained. To me it tries to have a home alone style villains with dumb getting hurt gags that never pull it off as smoothly but there is a great performance from Robin Williams.

  • Blood Quantum

    Blood Quantum

I didn’t think this was bad or hate it but it’s full of all the same zombie apocalypse tropes that bore me and I wasn’t really invested. It did have some great Romero style gore and deaths that looked cool and the the characters were definitely interesting but the main plot just didn’t do it for me.

  • The People vs. Larry Flynt

    The People vs. Larry Flynt

So showing a little pussy was the one step to far for American freedom?

Larry Flynt was the only one who made sense in this film.

    Horror Hunt 2021

It’s twisted, it’s sick between us, diseased.

Only Verhoeven could attempted make an erotic thriller about a woman who has an affair with her stalker/rapist neighbour it’s very uneasy and thrilling to watch but yet he makes it work somehow. This was a weird thriller it kept changing between being a thriller and a family drama but I found it more engaging then basic instinct. Isabelle Huppert dose a great job at playing a very sleazy and…
