The first scene with Connelly at her bar is Hollywood melodrama at its finest. Peter Bogdanovich cried during the Q&A when he started talking about Dorothy Stratten and how even more of the cast is dead as well now, and it felt like such a personal moment I didn’t deserve to be there for. It’s sad that a movie so joyous and effervescent can have such negative connotations for anyone, let alone the guy who wrote and directed it.
On a lighter note, I’m pretty sure Greta Gerwig in Mistress America is based, or at the very least styled on Colleen Camp in this.
