wow! amazing that this movie is actually only 2 minutes long and is actually just the opening crawl that if you can believe simply says ‘we realised this was nothing so we’re just gonna play the nice big music then u should leave the cinema go home and rewatch classic motion picture the last jedi (2017)’
did i ultimately like watching this? who can say! but it’s as sumptuously made and pretty nice to look at and genuinely well performed as it is thematically inert and narratively lazy and tedious and hollow and so so deeply obsessed with relying on cheap nostalgic callbacks and comparatively disappointing to what TLJ showed was poss w this franchise and franchise storytelling in general...like would love to actually have one thought for one single little second instead of just rolling my eyes at every hackneyed reveal
and it’s truly truly so gross how little kelly is given to do and how much she is sidelined and how transparently obvious why and who they are trying to cater to in doing so and it’s so fucked
