Tim Curry’s review published on Letterboxd:
The kind of fun that Rudy Ray Moore would want.
It is nice to see Eddie Murphy in a good movie again, because I nearly forgot how talented he can be. It is clear that this was a passion project of his and he really put his all into it.
The thing I was most surprised by is how much heart this story had. The blind ambition of Rudy Ray Moore is infectious and I am very curious to check out some of the movies he's made now.
If I had any complaint it would be that the first half of the movie is a tad slow, but it really picks up once Rudy starts working on Dolemite the movie. This is without a doubt one of the most entertaining biopics of the year. If you have Netflix, you should definitely give it a watch.
