Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Star Wars: The Last Jedi ★★★½

Exhaustingly paced and fundamentally flawed from several storytelling angles - that seem to both serve and shout out to the fact that they’re beholden to IP - though not without it’s idiosyncratic charms (this is distinctly a Rian Johnson picture). There’s an all-timer lightsaber battle that brings the audience to their feet, and it’s easily the funniest, most human STAR WARS Episode by far. Still, it’s hard not to plainly see the dual masters this movie’s serving, while still admiring that it’s an incredibly solid work of commercial art.
