The Idle Class

The Idle Class

Chaplin really did have a thing for dream sequences, though I suppose the people in life that The Tramp represents do dream of a better life. Chaplin does some fun things in this with a stretched out mistaken identity gag. The more consistent laughs came earlier during the Golf sequence, but the biggest laugh was when the "lonely husband" read the note about his wife avoiding him until he quit drinking, and you see what appears to be the husband shaking from crying uncontrollably until Chaplin turns around and is just shaking up another drink.
