    So, it's 2022.

Happy New Year everyone (at least, it is for me; maybe it's January 2 for you idk)! Besides just marking the fact that another year has passed, January 1 is special to me as it marks one whole year I've been on Letterboxd. Wow. It's been quite the journey. Thanks to everyone who's ever been a part of my time on here, it's been great to talk and chat movies with you all. 2021 was an ok…

Edward Yang isn’t so much a director concerned with making a story as much as he is one who loves crafting moments. Cuts are hard and transitions aren't smooth. For much of the runtime, some will be turned off as the film can definitely feel aimless and very slow. For the first hour or so, you could probably say that nothing happens. However, the film excels in its character work (which I've come to realize is my favorite part of…

    So, I finally watched it.

Midway through the movie, I was surprised that I didn’t hate it. It wasn’t good and it wasn’t even mediocre, but it wasn’t like it was aggravatingly bad. It just felt like my soul was actively dying.

    But it only got worse.

A movie devoid of goodness. I gained no joy while watching this. Only pain, and I may have lost a couple brain cells as well.

Thematically, it’s horrifying. Now maybe I’m missing something…

The Daniel Craig Bond films are all over the place in terms of how much I like them. The good ones, which include Casino Royale, and especially Skyfall (this one is honestly the best by a landslide), I really enjoy. They're tense, fun, and well crafted blockbusters that work where they need to. The bad ones, I don't enjoy at all, especially Quantum of Solace (this one is honestly the worst by 3 landslides). I don't even know where to…

The Social Network is an adrenaline rush of a film. After I finish it every time I don’t know if I want to cry or scream or punch a pillow or something. It goes by insanely quickly while still allowing you to wallow in every emotional beat. Every line is brilliant, every scene is incredible, and every edit is buttery smooth. Scenes are masterfully stitched together, both visually and audibly showcasing a world of both the the business and the…

I know I’ve seen it all before

    But this is still indescribable
Still some of the most strikingly dark and disturbing imagery I’ve ever seen
Still unlike anything I’ve ever seen
    Still an emotional rollercoaster
    Still uncomfortable
    Still beautiful
    Still terrifying
Still contains the greatest needle drop ever witnessed by mankind

I seriously don’t know where to begin with this movie and I don’t think I ever will. Maybe one day I’ll try, but don’t count on it. One thing’s for sure: I’ll never stop thinking about it.
