When this is released in the U.S., it will likely be called the French version of "Spotlight." But Francois Ozon's film is quite different, tackling the same subject matter with a greater focus on generational trauma, the culture of silence, and how victims grapple with their faith following abuse. The clinical, procedural script hides how deftly Ozon passes the narrative baton between three central characters, each offering distinct perspectives on this ongoing scandal. It's unfussy filmmaking that's appropriate for the story, and it doesn't undercut its powerful impact.

Sweat-soaked noir, with a surprising and heart-breaking supporting turn by Peter Capell as the desperate Baylock.

Disney gave director David Lowery a bunch of money and let him make an intimate, character driven movie about the relationship between a boy and his dragon. And it's really good.

A non-stop lit firecracker in your hand. An absolutely singular — and perhaps the only? — film about a contemporary pop star from a generation raised on trauma, and the burden of having to be both the escapist entertainment and political voice for the entire world watching your every move. As audacious and heightened as the times it’s set in. Natalie Portman gives a performance from another planet. Jude Law is greasily great.

Also, it’s pretty clear that Brady Corbet really likes the “Victor’s trip to Europe” sequence from “Rules Of Attraction.”
