A Quiet Place

A Quiet Place ★★★★

I'd just like to thank the packed screen I saw this in for not making any sounds except for the rustle of popcorn bags after a tense moment. You all made the experience so much better.

A Quiet Place is a great exercise in tension and wordless storytelling. You could write every spoken word in this film on a napkin and still have room to spare. There's some great horror moments here, with the only drawback being how much of the creatures are shown, and how often. If they'd have stayed in the shadows a bit more then it would have been even more effective, but I enjoyed their design and physicality so I'm not complaining too much.

Go and see it in a cinema for the phenomenal sound work, and pray that the other people there will stay quiet too.
