Something I missed out on during all the Cannes hype a couple years back. Should’ve just left it to my imagination by this point considering no one is talking about it anymore, and probably for good reason. This film doesn’t allow resolution or contemplation. It’s the equivalent of the Niceguy™ “girls only date douchebags” attitude you stumble across on basement dweller subreddits and 4chan boards. Overtop there’s a thick layer of misogyny which further adds to how irritating this whole affair is. Some may call this a dissection of male ego, to me it’s a celebration of impotent angst. Jealousy wins? Fuck right off.
