A little word of advice to all of those Letterboxd users who are parents: never give your children any sort of authority or major responsibilities because they will fuck you over for it. Also, don't always trust women because they will deceive you and ultimately lead you to your downfall.

In all seriousness, this is just another chapter in the string of masterpieces from Kurosawa. He just knows how to blend timeless stories with brilliant, visually explosive sequences, especially in Ran. Seriously, this might his most visually impressive film and also one of his most substance fueled tales.

Honestly, Kurosawa's films never fail to deliver relevant subject matter, even 30 years later!
