    KILL la KILL

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

This absurd, over sexualized anime really won me over by the end!

So I started Kill la Kill based on a recommendation and knew very little about it aside from some of the poster art. Initially I thought this was just a silly perverted story full of up skirts and crotch shots, a teenage boy’s wet dream that traded any real plot or ideas for pure fan service. I almost let preconceived notions and first impressions get the best of…

This under appreciated vampire indie is a real piece of art.Β

Addiction, seduction, infection, there’s a bunch of themes being explored here that other vampire films are well known for, but in an original combination of ways that are unique to this story. This grimy low budget tale of a struggling alcoholic, that is more of a character piece than a horror film, expands the idea of what a vampire can represent.Β

My favorite type of film is a horror…

Larry really beats us over the head with the global warming message.Β

I was excited to check out another Fessenden film after watching Habit but this one missed the mark. There are some good actors in this but I think the script lets them down. I thought the set designs were also lacking, the small budget is evident at times which I found distracting. There are a couple atmospheric moments but ultimately I found this one a bit of a drag.

    Genuinely terrifying! Β

[REC] continues to hold up upon rewatch, it’s definitely a contender for the best found footage film of all time. Β

But.. Why does he hate my boobs?Β

I’m surprised this homage to 80s slashers doesn’t get a little more love. The cast is great. I’ve said it before but Taissa Farmiga can do no wrong and she’s great once again, bringing some emotional weight to this otherwise silly dark comedy. I’m a long time fan of Adam Devine and while he plays his typical low brow humor character, I’m certainly not mad about it. The stunning Nina Dobrev plays the…

Freddy falls in love with the word bitch in this one and never looks backΒ

Although I didn’t find it quite as scary, I love this film just as much as the first in the franchise, it’s definitely my favorite of the sequels. Freddys one liners are a bit cheesy but remain pretty iconic. I love the imaginative plot, the visuals and set pieces are brilliant. One of my earliest memories of a horror film is the strange snake creature…
