”Mother, you MUST sample the tart!”

Autumn de Wilde’s Emma. is a wonderfully astute and agile dramedy with an excellent balance of tone that expertly understands it's genre with terrific self-awareness. This splendid feature incorporates terrific performances all round. Mia Goth continues to impress and while Anna Taylor-Joy does little in her individual evolution as an actress she suffices, with an engaging screenplay by Eleanor Catton. The aesthetic and production are equally as compelling, however the feature runs a little too long for its own good.
