"As a species we're fundamentally insane. Put more than two of us in a room, we pick sides and start dreaming up reasons to kill one another. Why do you think we invented politics and religion?"
BLACK & WHITE DIRECTORS CUT
The Mist has an ending so bleak and brutal, so wonderfully dark and horrifying it was genuinely a pleasure to sit through. Thats not to say it doesn't have certain issues. It's slightly grating that all the characters are stereotypes of society and all the dialogue is incredibly existential throughout. The performances also leave a little to be desired, for what Darabont is working with he exceeds the talent most of the actors in the film are capable of and it suffices. I'd also forgive the very poor CGI the film has due to the limited budget, however because the film depends on such effects for impact I have to be harsh.
