    Thirst

    ★★★½

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

A quirky Korean vampire film with pervasive comedy and romance elements. What is it about south Korean horror that makes them all so long in length? Stretching out to two and a half hours, Thirst feels more like a mini-series than a movie at times. It’s got multiple sub-plots, revolving characters, settings and tonal shifts to make it feel like it was produced separately and then fused together later. It’s a pretty wild ride along the way, with plenty of…

    Intruder

    ½

It’s not that often that I’m in a situation where I can compare two films this close together as I…

    Saint Maud

    ★★★★

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

A psych horror character portrait of a girl with a messiah complex. Normally after I finish a movie I can’t wait to write about it - especially if I liked it. Saint Maud was unusual because I definitely liked it but struggled to piece together what it was that compelled me. After a day of on and off reflection I think I’m finally ready to get it all down satisfactorily. Saint Maud is aptly titled as this movie is all…
