Guess I am just getting more sentimental as I get older, but this one left me pretty misty eyed at quite a few points. Equally heart warming and at times devastating.
Being an "anime" was a definite blessing and a curse. The medium allows for the premise to work more easily and it gives some great visuals like the cave sequnce, however it gets stuck having to follow some conventions of the medium that are a bit of a disservice to the whole. In particular the cheap/easy body swap jokes and being forced to pause the movie to promote a pop single, since anime is pretty synonymous with certain record labels and have a symbiotic relationship.
