Michael James’s review published on Letterboxd:
It’s damn crazy scary to image it’s a true story. It’s based on a book of the same name, compiling stories from Miami New Times, dealing with the kidnapping, extortion, torture, and murder of several victims by the Sun gym gang. But when looking at it from a movie perspective, Michael Bay directs the shit out of it. It’s dark, cynical, unabashedly hilarious, extremely over the top and stylishly bombastic, not everyone’s cup of tea, but I damn enjoyed ittttt. The cinematography and editing is sleek. The cast is just perfect in Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson and Anthony Mackie, playing the dumb characters with all muscles and no brains to bizzare perfection. If you’re up for a violent insane comedy ride, go for it.
