Had this on my watchlist for years and forgot everything about it, even the synopsis.. saw french subtitles and I knew I was in for something special, I just didn’t think it’d be nausea

    The Social Dilemma

It's midterm season, just struggling with online learning.

The Social Dilemma is Netflix's newest spotlight documentary that highlights the irony within the ideal of "AI" and how it's doom-like implications have already set its course; as algorithms control the modern societal pillars.

If your parents or grandparents already fear the thought of "chip implants," this will push them to the edge.

To be able to see and hear real Silicon Valley veterans explain and expose the monsters they've unleashed from…

Doesn’t seem like I’m with letterboxd on this one. /:

While Ludwig Göransson’s blood-pumping score does BRrRM at the ears, I can’t rate a film at this calibre a 3 or less for one or few of these reasons alone (but I understand!):

    - Sound mixing,
    - Exposition,
    - Complexity

Inception and Interstellar heavily rely on exposition, hell, most of the lines for the beloved dream-heist is exposition.

Now Nolan introduces us to Inversion, where an object or a person can…

    Perfect Blue

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Yes, there’s a drunken pattern with my reviews so far but this one was the calm Sunday morning-after and I wasn’t ready.

This is one hell of a film.

Perfect blue centres around the concept of self, but more specifically a woman in the limelight fighting for her sense of self, as patriarchal media and society closes in. Never in this film did Mima, our pop-icon protagonist, have control over her own life, even as her team advised her to be…

We Need to Talk About Kevin

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

We picked this film for another one of our psycho-thriller movie night, and by its end we had three camps: one person who hated it, two who we're in the middle and one who loved it. Whether that's an accurate representation of a modern audience is up to debate, but I was in the middle!

    Things I LOVED:

    - Tilda Swinton's earthly intensity makes it almost impossible for your attention to slip away.
    - The film is cerebral in its…

  • Host

We watched this movie around 3 or 4 AM, drunk out of our minds the week that it came out. I still had the bad taste of Unfriended in my mouth but with its runtime and our growing tiredness we couldn't go wrong.

If I could summarize this movie as a meme, it'd be:

    Unfriended: Who are you?
    Host: I'm you but stronger.

There is no scarcity for the "digital-space horror" trope in past history and streaming catalogues. From great…
