Wow. Finally saw this classic and it was even better than my high expectations.
Looking at it objectively, it's just about perfect. The dialogue, the story and the characters are all exceptional (including the real-life Hollywood cameos). The only reason it's not a 5-star movie is because I reserve those for films that hit me on a purely physical, involuntary level while I'm watching and this didn't quite reach those heights, although it got close during Norma Desmond's final walk down the staircase.
