    White Noise


    While not a complete success, there is value in glorious failure. The cast shines: Adam Driver is breath taking, but everyone else does the movie proud. The direction is also glorious, Baumbach knows how to set up moments of pure cinema.

    I am not sure what the movie is about, I see America. As University professor, I see the America I lived in.

    Loved the end credits with the metaphysical shop-and-dance. 

    Watch for the Elvis v. Hitler lecture, Cheadle and Driver, pure rock'n roll.

    Rewatching Spielberg's retelling of the Munich massacre and its aftermath, I kept thinking of Ukraine. There are parallels between Ukraine and Israel. Both are existentially dependent on American weapons and cash. Aid will only continue as long as there is public support. Both must remain victims.

    In Ukraine, victimhood is managed from Washington which is careful not to give weapons that could allow the Ukrainian to hurt Russia. Likely with clear marching orders to keep the bombs on the…

Bridges move from one part of the city to another to connect the big fight scene that lays waste to a good chunk of the old town. The moment where Ryan Gosling is chained to a bench is across the bridge from my house. I can see it from my window.
