Pure unadulterated joy. Stop Making Sense is an amazing feat of filmmaking as it manages to capture the pleasure of putting on a show, the energy of a performance and the creativity of the Talking Heads at their best and of their director Jonathan Demme.
Watch for the big suits, rewatch for no reason at all.
PS. I rarely got to share my love for film with my son. Stop Making Sense was playing at the Coolidge Corner Theater (back in Brookline), my favorite movie house in a past life. My son was about 15, he agreed to come. There was an introduction setting up the movie, and on hand where various people in big suits. An unforgettable night.
