    TRON: Legacy

    Happy #TRONniversary !!

It has been exactly 10 years already since The Mouse graced us with TRON: Legacy! It is honestly my favourite science-fiction film to date, in terms of both entertainment and themes.

Almost 30 years after TRON , Disney took a massive gamble sparing no expense that paid off fairly successfully but to mediocre reception. The film was designed to kickstart a franchise, but a third film has been struggling in limbo ever since. Eventually, like its predecessor,…

  • Tron

Greetings, Programs, and welcome to the digital frontier. In 1982 Walt Disney Studios released a semi-psychedelic and futuristic gem in movie theaters (remember those?). Next week its infamous 2010 sequel will be exactly 10 years old. Time for a retrospective adventure through our memory disk.

β€œGames? You want games, I'll give you games.”

TRON has always been synonymous with innovation. Today it looks outdated, but within lies some bold pioneering avant-garde art. There was nothing to compare the effects of…

Really though, this movie is way different than the poster and synopsis would have you guess.

  • Athena

Blisteringly current, it feels like the story of Athena is just beyond the horizon in a country ready to burst. Nevertheless, this incendiary thriller is as timeless as it could possibly be. France’s sociopolitical tensions are translated on screen with a visual bravado akin to Greco-Roman and Medieval warfare terms, all centering around a story of mythological magnitude in line with the epic name of the Parisian banlieue it is set in.

In common with much Grecian tragedy, it’s…

If anything, Portrait de la jeune fille en feu is WARM. πŸ”₯

Now excuse me for that easy pun because this film deserves much better from a review. Yes, this is a love story; but it's so much more than that. These two woman, and the servant Sophie, base their relations on equality. Any form of hierarchy almost vanishes when only they are on screen. There's a certain tenderness that captivates the audience.

    β€œDo all lovers feel like they’re inventing…

    Promising Young Woman

β€œFuck her!” they said, and boy did they try.

Fuck me, this film was amazing! Promising Young Woman had me on a high, a state I can’t really describe well. Just 100% captivated by it. This is a film that likely will make sexual assault survivors uncomfortable too, next to the β€˜nice guys’ who don’t get out of this film unscathed.

Visual storytelling was taken to its maximum potential here. The words β€˜rape’ or β€˜assault’ are never even uttered, yet…
