I have not been feeling well for the last couple of days, so I wanted to watch a movie to cheer me up. What better film than the movie where Russell Crowe beats the living crap out of Ryan Gosling and they somehow team up together? This is one of the funniest films I have ever watched. The dialogue is comedic gold, the script is original with excellent writing from Shane Black, the performances terrific from everybody, the story is engaging and fun, the soundtrack is fantastic, the action scenes are a blast to watch, the characters are lovable and hilarious, and the pacing is perfect. What really makes this movie as fun as it was though, is the chemistry between Ryan Gosling, Russell Crowe, and Angourie Rice. They play off each other perfectly and they all have a blast with this film. When I first saw this film, I gave it 4 and a half stars, but this film got even better on the second viewing so it is now a five star film for me.
The Nice Guys is a severely overlooked comedy and there is never a dull moment. It's films like this why I love cinema, and it is disappointing that it tanked at the box office. If you get the chance, watch this film as soon as you can.
