Friend: The Great Legacy ★★★

A decent gangster flick that may be a sequel to the first in story and characters, but feels inadequately different. Not that I loved the first movie to begin with, but it at least was much stronger in character development and feeling intimately more real. This one sets those mainly aside in exchange for style. I don't speak Korean and have to rely on subs, so while I'm not the best judge, I definitely feel the dialogue comes up short here and seems pretty weakly written. The 60's scenes with Joon-seok's father don't do anything for the story and detracts from the main story line. I still enjoyed it though, so while it's not as good as the first, I think it at least kept my interest more.
