"I feel like you're breathing helium and I'm breathing oxygen."
Before Midnight not only was real, interesting and honest, is the third chapter of a beautiful love story. A love story that didn't need CGI, twists or superheroes to become the best trilogy I have ever seen. That only shows if you have a great script and great actors everything else is cream filling.
Richard Linklater with Before Midnight did what he does best, rich engaging dialogue, that not only keep me interested, but spoke to me thematically and made me feel like part of the conversation.
Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy are Jesse & Celine for me, they where this wonderful couple since Before Sunrise and they will keep on been this wonderful couple for the rest of my life, they where born to play this characters.
There is a casual question that Celine asks Jesse "If we are meeting for the first time today in the train, would you talk to me, would you ask me to step out of the train with you?" We all know the answer, it was "of course" and the film keep on going, but it was Jesse's expression before he answered that I was fascinated with, He answered what Celine wanted to heard, but his expression said the question is a lot more complex than that.
Thing like that, mannerism, expressions that I was picking here and there where so rewarding, I'am not at the same level as Celine & Jesse (I am married but I have no kids) so certain thing I understand but not in the level that I can relate to them, but, like Before Sunrise and Before Sunset I'll get to that level and the film will speak to me the same way the other two spoke to me.
Before Midnight is exquisite, is beautiful, every word is gold, every expression has meaning, every second counts.
