Abbie’s review published on Letterboxd:
I thought I’d seen this somewhere over the years but it turns out I’d just seen the first half hour a stupid amount of times on TV. It was great watching this in its entirety and it was really great to immerse myself in a whodunnit slasher. When I rewatched the first Scream recently, I remembered who the killers were, so it was a unique experience to enter the sequel pretty much blind.
Scream 2 definitely isn’t as good as the first, but it’s only a small step below it’s original. The script isn’t as good, and some moments are a bit too cringe - a problem I never had with the first Scream. But the plot is really well structured and the runtime doesn’t drag for a second. There’s not many slashers that can pull off a 2 hour runtime but Scream 2 manages it rather well. Oh, and Rebecca Gayheart is in it, so that definitely brightened up my evening.
A successful sequel to an iconic horror!
