Justin Bertolero’s review published on Letterboxd:
Because hereditary was my favorite movie last year, I had a may be too high of expectations for Midsummer. These two movies are very different, very similar, and both masterpieces in their own way.
Thinking of this film as a break up movie rather than a horror movie makes it infinitely better. It also makes me less scared for the characters and more scared for all of Ari Aster’s exes. YIKES that dude has some baggage.
OH and once again, the female lead in an Ari Aster movie deserves and Oscar nom (and will probabaly get snubbed)
