The Reel House’s review published on Letterboxd:
Absolutely blown away by this one. From start to finish, I was utterly enthralled. The provocative nature of the film, really made me care about the plot and the characters. The film is absolutely oozing with style and bubblegum aesthetic and it worked for me on every conceivable level.
Emerald Fennell’s screenplay was extremely tight, surprisingly hilarious at times and so poignant that I’ve now been thinking about the film for hours. Fennell doesn’t play it safe, she doesn’t try make everyone happy and she definitely subverted my expectations even though that I was hyped.
I also want to highlight the cast of this film because, In my opinion this is the best ensemble cast of 2020. Just hear me out.... Carey Mulligan, Bo Burnham, Allison Brie, Clancy Brown, Jennifer Coolidge, Adam Brody, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Molly Shannon, Max Greenfield, Chris Lowell and ALFRED MOLINA !
If that isn’t a stellar cast, I don’t know what is.
When watching, I felt as if I cast the movie !
Go into the movie not knowing anything and sit back, relax and let the experience wash over you. Thank you for reading.
