The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 ★★★

Film #18 of JC13's I Do Believe I Just Shit Myself September/October Horror Marathon: Part IV

"The saw is family."

The second film of the franchise takes things in a different direction. It's not just a straight up Horror movie, it's got more of a comedic tone to it, but there is of course still plenty of Horror aspects. I felt the tone was a bit odd and I wasn't a fan of what they did with the character of Leatherface in this one. It was just a bit silly and feels like it's in a completely different universe from the original. It has some fun parts though and Dennis Hopper was entertaining in his role. I felt the two of the actors that played Leatherface's family members were way over the top and not always in a good way. The main girl (Caroline Williams) was solid though. I think my favorite thing about the film was the set design. Leatherface's lair was really cool. There are also some really good makeup effects from Tom Savini. Overall, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 is a strange sequel that just didn't work for me. I know it has its fans though and I can see why. 5.5/10
