The Book Thief ★★★½

"There once was a girl, who had a friend that lived in the shadows. She would remind him how the sun felt on his skin and the air felt like to breathe, and that reminded her that she was still alive."

Rather than simply repeat the sentiments of many, many reviewers before me, here's an awesome review of this beautiful film that sums up my thoughts perfectly:

The Book Thief is a lovely, well made and acted (I want to watch Monsieur Lazhar even more now) film for all ages (it's rare that a statement like that can be said) that I adored. It puts you through the emotional wringer, but always has a crack of light in the darkness, letting you know in an incredibly perfect last scene that Liesel was happy and safe one day.
