Josh Couch’s review published on Letterboxd:
Let's get the obvious out of the way first. Carol is one of the most well-made films of the year. The cinematography is incredible, the score is beautiful, and the lead performances are overwhelmingly mesmerizing. Todd Haynes has certainly crafted a very powerful film especially given the society we live in today.
I did have a problem with the progression of the film. It dragged on in spots and seemed as if it was going nowhere. I was thoroughly surprised to find myself a bit bored in a film like this. It lacked any sort of charm that would have made it so much more special.
I still really liked Carol but "like" is all I can really say. Definitely worth seeing, however, for the performances and technical aspect of the film.
