"I never asked for anything! Maybe that's the problem!"
Carol has a very intimate feeling to it that brings the viewers into the fold of this love story. The direction and cinemantography are very well done, specifically in the way the shots are framed and the use of color in this period piece. Blanchett and Mara are perfect subjective vessels for the audience to follow along the rough terrain of this captivating tale. Ultimately there are some minor pacing and story flaws, but overall the film's positives more than make up for its small shortcomings.
