reminded me about the feeling of loneliness in childhood, and how it differs from loneliness in adulthood. but at the core still very much the same?
Animation, visual concepts, experimentation: beautiful, brilliant, incredible, beyond imagination, smart, clever, exciting.
But I literally can't bring myself to appreciate any of that in all its glory because everything in this film is so undeniably chained to a precedent that is just: straight up misogyny. boobs! personality based only on boobs! objectification of women and their bodies! from all angles and shapes and sizes! women as showgirls and toys and weak limp dolls! r*pe trauma that is literally never addressed!…
I felt like... I could be in this world for hours. Listen to them speak, interact, be self destructive, have self discoveries. Transfixing in way that felt organic. 3 hours long but didn't feel it at all. Every beat was natural but unexpected, just like human nature ! and slipped into feeling invested very quickly/deeply/easily. Sometimes wishing the characters would just stand there and stare in silence for a little while longer.... \basking in this cinematography >>>> shot beautifully, through windows & mirrors & reflections (!!!!), long/wide, backs turned to the camera, frames in frames in frames, nothing too close, but everything vividly memorable.
