Burning

Burning ★★★★½

just as captivating as i remember. lee chang-dong is superior to his contemporaries in the sense that he can make you feel the weight of his critique (whether it’s to do with class disparity or patriarchy) in a way that’s seemingly mundane and not ham-fisted or melodramatic. the ideas presented here are so humanistic and understanding of modern capitalist society—just so, so dense whilst still being somewhat accessible.
