This movie takes the viewer to such dark places... everyone is so vengeful and angry. Our main protagonist maliciously spits on dogs and the only glimpse of hope is a fool who masturbates in the presence of others. And it wasn't very funny either.
Americans love imagining young versions of their heroes: the legend before they became legend – wait for it – dairy.
And now we have Young Lincoln
As expected this was basically Abe porn: he walks around slowly, touching objects as he dominates the situation with his coolness, his ability to distinguish right from wrong. He is almost like a stoner; a pure brain with a sloth-like, gangly body that seems to constantly rediscover itself
I thought this was really great. It totally captured that feel when you got to skip school and realised how sad your parents' jobs were. It also explored how there can be a strange relief when things are completely ruined. And links all this to a young woman's burgeoning atheism.
Beautifully shot as well (and weirdly satisfying sound design?!)
