Shane Black is back! Not many people can pull off the miss matched buddy crime movie like Shane Black...'Lethal Weapon', a classic. 'The Last Boy Scout', 'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang' and 'The Long Kiss Goodnight' favourites too.
Really enjoyed 'The Nice Guys', a fun, charming old school action/comedy, better than your usual run of the mill buddy cop type movie. Electric chemistry between Crowe and Gosling, comedic timing spot on, with Gosling portraying the more goofy comedic side of the yin/yang dynamic, which I found hilarious...the toilet stall scene, questioning the mermaids or when he damages his hand breaking and entering, numerous more. Angourie Rice who plays Goslings young daughter can sure hold her own also, highly likeable, a future star.
I could be critical but for me it's easily dismissed because it's just so much fun, it has been a while since I've been at a sold out screening where pretty much the whole audience was in hysterics. Plot may be a bit hollow a d scatty at times, also a little generic in parts but still engaging and entertaining due to the tight, witty film noir script. Hope there is sequel on the cards and wished Shane Black directed more movies.
