• Shaun of the Dead

    Shaun of the Dead

“it’s been a funny sort of day, hasn’t it?”

  • Fantastic Planet

    Fantastic Planet

completely normal film!  just your standard movie.  i definitely understood all of it and did not feel inexplicably anxious once!

  • The Trial of the Chicago 7

The Trial of the Chicago 7

it’s true that every character in The Trial of the Chicago 7 speaks the same way, just with different emotions - but that’s a Sorkin staple!!  i had no qualms with the dialogue, but i DID mind that this was also directed by Sorkin.  i think it would’ve been a far nearer package if he had handed the reins to someone else.

i love courtroom dramas!  sue me!  and i love joseph gordon levitt (even though he needed less screentime) & jeremy strong.  this is a Really funny movie for succession fans.

  • An American Werewolf in London

    An American Werewolf in London

this was sooooo fun!  so campy!!!  ty to this movie for satiating my obsession with the portrayal of life after death in media & good sfx makeup!!!

  • Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me

Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me

so much of this is just: the worst dialogue you could ever write with the worst deliveries you could imagine
me, every time: yes bitch gobble gobble gobble😭truer words never spoken

  • Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives

Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives

unfortunately i found the poster much more captivating than the movie!  really wanted to love it but that’s ok.  maybe another time uncle boonmee!  probably not though as i really can’t sit through this again

  • Moonrise Kingdom

    Moonrise Kingdom

i have a very fond memory of watching this for the first time: under the covers at my grandparents’ house, having to turn my ipad off every 20 minutes so i could pretend to be asleep, too young to fully appreciate the tone & meaning of the story.  moonrise kingdom was pure magic then & it’s pure magic now.  can’t believe i forgot how this movie makes me feel <3

  • Hunt for the Wilderpeople

    Hunt for the Wilderpeople

this movie should have a content warning for playing leonard cohen’s “the partisan.” oh goddddddddddddd.  cry bite scream

  • Knives Out

    Knives Out

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

rian johnson writing this:  ok ok.  his name is ransom.  like the NOTE you leave after a CRIME.  this is very clever of me.  audiences will think i’m serving double bluff REALNESS with this CRIME name.

  • Assassination Nation

    Assassination Nation

it has to be a parody!!  it has to be.  but imagine if it was written and directed by a woman......girls & gays, we would’ve had it then.  anyway it’s late & i’m terrified of home invasions.

  • Husbands

as vile & tragic as you might expect a 2.5 hour film about Three Emotionally Stunted Men Desperately Trying to Find a Place to Put Their Hatred Down to be.

it’s a grueling watch!  i likely wouldn’t recommend it to anybody!  can’t figure out how to rate it!  cassavetes & falk are untouchable nonetheless!  i think i need to rewatch mikey & nicky!
