Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Star Wars: The Last Jedi ★★★★★

I can't believe it's finally here.

What an experience. Seen in IMAX in a theater that isn’t even completely built yet. It was planned to open in January, but they managed to complete enough to accommodate for this movie, according to them. It was also my first time at a luxury/dine-in theater, which has some extreme ups and downs. The theater even had an ice rink immediately outdoors. Unforgettable, even before the movie started, to say the least. My anxiety was so high (for once, it was good anxiety) I couldn’t stop shaking for the first ten or so minutes. I hope nobody noticed.

The most bittersweet movie I’ve ever seen. Giving it five stars for now, not necessarily because it's perfect (it's damn close, though) but because it means more to me than all but a few films ever will. It’s like the Star Wars film I often daydream about directing. For me, the highs in this film are greater than those of any other film. It's exactly what I wanted, and I couldn't be more grateful.

That being said, I'll confidently call this the best Star Wars movie yet (and I'd be surprised if that changes at any time within this decade). I'll wait for the "nothing could ever be better than Empire" crowd to pitch in.

Really surprised at all the divisiveness this has caused; seems like more people hate it than love it. Maybe I overestimated the Star Wars community, maybe they aren't ready for an auteur's episode.

I had much, much more to say, but I should probably save that for a rewatch when I can actually gather my thoughts.
