A film that ultimately ends up feeling too broken and misguided for its own good.
I appreciate what the writers were going for by including Barbara’s prologue, but there’s a certain connective tissue that lacks between Killing Joke’s two halves. The source material seems to either simply work better on print, or is in the wrong hands.
In between the masterpiece that is CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON and the acclaimed BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN (which, admittedly, I have not seen), Ang Lee made..this.
It may feel more “idiosyncratic,” but I still stand by Leterrier’s film being the superior Hulk story. Maybe I’m just a sucker for Ed Norton.
