    @jimcummings I love you, man.

  • Detroit

    Maybe it isn’t for me to give this film a rating.

    But I will say that Bigelow is a master of captivating suspense, and Detroit approaches its themes of racism, bigotry, a failed justice system, and police brutality with a much more sophisticated and understanding reality of things than most of these ~white lib Hollywood movies~ could ever grasp.

    Undoubtedly, far better than Crash; a film that fundamentally relies on complete mischaracterizations of what prejudice actually looks like.

    I'm Thinking of Ending Things

    Met Jesse Plemmons on an Irishman set in Long Island and I told him that his performance as Todd in Breaking Bad was one of the creepiest things I’d ever seen on screen.

    And Jake just took Todd’s (chocolate) cake...

  • Run

    Why aren’t more people talking about this?!

  • Tenet

    I have no fucking clue what happened but goddamn was it enjoyable and the sound mixing and choreography was wonderful and it was really nice to be back in a theater again.

    Possibly my least favorite Nolan. Or maybe it’s Dark Knight Rises. Idk this needs a rewatch someday.

  • Doctor Sleep

    The recasts were solid but definitely detracted from me getting fully invested in the story.

    I just found it so odd seeing a “Kubrick sequel” turn into a semi-action thriller, shot on digital. Still, for what Doctor Sleep does, it does well and brings a whole new mythos to the character and legacy of Danny Torrance.

  • In the Heat of the Night

    In the Heat of the Night

    Steiger, and especially Poitier, steal the show, but I can’t say I was all too invested in the details of the mystery itself.
