the theme of two men reuniting after a hiatus and trying to overcome the inevitable fracture in their friendship that is caused simply by time and all her side effects, is a theme that needs to be covered more often in cinema. it's a theme that nearly all viewers can relate with, to some extent.
it's subtly painful to watch these two friends sit in silence, not because they're experiencing the awkward tension that follows when two people meet for the first time, but because you sense that they once knew each other so well, they couldn't help but talk endlessly with one another. they wish they could recapture those days, but they both know that's impossible.
"Old Joy" is the perfect title for this film.
