I know it probably seems snobby to give this a full five stars given other titles that I've rated less. But I don't care. This blew me away. 3 1/2 hours of nothingness flies by. Like News From Home, the mundane, the ordinary, somehow becomes fascinating and intoxicating. This is so precise in its details that a simple change in camera angle becomes shocking. A classroom film for sure - and maybe helped by a couple of beers while watching but I stand behind this one. Would I have appreciated this 20 or even 10 years ago? Probably not, but I'm glad I didn't waste any more time in getting around to this. I was prepared for it to be a slog, but it just sucks you in and sweeps you along. Devastating and profound. I literally jumped at the end. Must now go and watch whatever else I can get my hands on by Akerman.
